City Manager

A CITY MANAGER will bring the additional oversight.

When elected Transparency will be the culture in North Royalton.

Meet and Greet Zindroski ---- Discuss City Manager Form of Government

Hello NR residents:

We have a unique opportunity to meet with mayor candidate Zindroski to explore her position on city management style of government for North Royalton. She has put together quite a list of informed speakers that can answer many of your questions.

City managers attending:
  • Huron CM Andy White
  • Norton CM Robert Fowler
  • Hudson CM Jane Howington
  • Mentor CM Ken Fillipiak
Including Former Cuyahoga County Sheriff and Bedford CM Bob Reid who will be attending.
Possibly attending could be the OCMA (Ohio City/County Management Association ) President Patrick Titterington. He is the CM in Troy, OH may be attending.

With issues like our Cleveland mayor and how that affects the city, maybe it’s time for a change in Cuyahoga County?

Monday, Sept. 16  6 pm to 8 pm at the North Royalton Library, 5071 Wallings Road,

Under a City Manager

Benefits of Council-Manager Government (hiring a City Manager)
• Distinguishes between the administrative role of manager/administrator and the policy role of chief elected executive.
• Chief elected official (e.g., mayor, board chairperson, commissioner) serves as political leader and “face” of community.
• Day-to-day operations managed by highly trained, nonpartisan, experienced professional manager or administrator.
• Manager or administrator possesses the “know-how” and experience to ensure continuous improvement of community services.
• Political power concentrated in entire governing body and policy making resides with elected officials.
• Elected officials free to devote time to policy planning and development.
• The form emphasizes ethical, effective, efficient, and equitable service delivery.

Read about the benefits to our city by hiring a professional who has the experience, knowledge, and education on operating a city which in reality is big business. This person can bring in revenue from advancing our economic development.

HUDSON has a city manager.
Enjoyed the day at the North Royalton Republican Club Candidates Picnic. Spoke about the foregoing of the Mayor's Salary and hiring a professional City Manager. This City Manager is accountable to the Residents, Mayor and Council.
Of course, our grandchildren wanted to be a part of this event.

Questions and Answers about a City Manager

1. What is the City Manager?
City manager
A city manager is an official appointed as the administrative manager of a city, in a council-manager form of city government. Local officials serving in this position are sometimes referred to as the chief executive officer or chief administrative officer in some municipalities.
The City Manager is impartial, he/she works for the city and the city’s best interest.

2. How much does a City Manager earn?
An average salary for a City Manager is $88,474 (Payscale.com).

City Managers are in Hudson, Huron, Brunswick, Cleveland Hts., Bedford, among others.

It’s time!
The Citizens of North Royalton have the opportunity of making the change to city government and how our city operates.
I’ve had the pleasure to work with the city manager where our weekend cottage is located and it’s by far been the best experience. I’ve watched him bring millions of dollars into the city because of his professionalism, his knowledge, and talent. I feel we could have the same benefit here in North Royalton.
I’m not interested in the mayor’s salary, retirement nor health benefits but interested in making the mayor’s position part-time with a salary closely related to the President of Council. Therefore, that would be the funds available to pay for a city manager.
Many in the county and neighboring cities have part-time mayors and city managers. By placing a professional at the helm in North Royalton can only benefit the entire community especially the needed economic development.
We are the city with access to two major highways and we should capitalize on this. Let’s admit it, we have been stagnant when it comes to getting business in the city.
We need to balance both with industry and keeping our city with a rural atmosphere. We need to continue with the progress made to date and keep it going forward.

Rye Beach Property Owner’s Association trustees

Jim and I have been Rye Beach Property Owner’s Association trustees at our summer cottage in Huron.
After getting involved, working with Senator Matt Dolan, House Representatives past and present Steve Arndt, Tom Patton, Mike Dovilla and County Council Nan Baker, along with Adam White, Huron City Manager, Doug Green, City Engineer, Councilman Sam Artino and Moran Nusbaum, State Department of Commerce, I was able to change an long-time issue with a mobile home park. Sandusky Register has been writing about this issue for many years and especially after the fatality.
This has allowed the city to now enforce city violations and provide better living conditions for residents.

Invited and attended The Federalist Society luncheon at the RNC. Listened and met American politician, author, and attorney Michael Shumway Lee, who is the senior United States Senator from Utah. A conservative, libertarian-leaning Republican, Lee has served in the Senate since January 3, 2011. Senator Lee spoke about the Constitution and how it is being taught in government classes.
